Andrea Smalec and Joycelin Benton were declared winners in Tuesday's Student Government Association election. The Herald received a fax transmission at 10:35 pm Tuesday night containing election results from the office of Campus Programs.
Smalec defeated incumbent David Huckabee and running mate Dee Rieke by more than an 11 percent margin, receiving 775 of 1,384 votes.
"I look forward to serving the students next year. I am sure I can bring SGA to its fullest potential," Smalec said in a telephone interview late Tuesday night.
Smalec said she was both amazed and humbled by the number of votes she received.
David Huckabee was unavailable for comment at the time this site was updated.

A runoff election will be held for two offices. University college senator and fourth seat for senior senator both had ties. Darryl Spinks will face off with David Taylor for the fourth seat of senior senator and Harry Moore and Nick Morris will face off for the position of university college senator.
There has been no official word released on when or how the runoff elections will be held.
