Housing to show gratitude with food
By Jonathan Sweet, Herald Staff
 ASU
Housing, a division of Student Affairs, will sponsor a Resident Appreciation
Night and tailgate cookout from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 5 at the west
side of Indian Stadium.
 Melvin
Jamerson, Twin Towers' residence hall director, said, "We hall directors
have gathered together to come up with an idea for thanking our students
for being here, show them we appreciate them.
 "We
are not having as many problems, and we hope to continue to grow until
our numbers are up," he said. "We want residents to feel appreciated."
 The
cookout is free to all students living in the residence halls.
 Those
who plan to attend must present a student identification card or a valid
driver's license.
 The
menu will include hamburgers, hot dogs, potato chips, beans and salad.
 "We
estimate at least 500 people will attend," Jamerson said. "This
is the first time we've done this in the six years I've been here.
 "ASU
has done big barbecues at the end of classes in May of 1995 and 1996. Anywhere
from 300 to 400 people showed up," he said.
